Talk about a bad stinkin Day at church.

Well, for those that don't know, I play lead accoustic for one of the three teams at church. Rehearsal before the first service went well. Everything was fine. Service starts we play the first song, which I was playing electric on, and everything was great. The on the next three songs I played accoustic, and in each song I eith openned by myself of ended by myself. And what happens.? I was not in the monitors at all. None of my bandmates could here me playing, and I couldn't hear myself over them. So that was frustrating me because everything was fine 20 minutes before and nothing had changed about the set up. Worship ends; I'm not happy. My self and the rythem accoustic player were discussing what happened. The my gf's dad(who doesn't like me much and is the lead accoustic/singer on another team) came out of the sactuary and started asking me what happened. The the icing on the cake came out. Not only was I not in the stage moni=ors, but I wasn;t even in the house speakers. No one in the church could even hear me playing. And Bob(gf's dad) was tontoally making it sound like it was my fault, which was making me even more mad.

Then service ends, my gf comes out from the youth room and sits down by me and said she couldn't stay for the second worship because of some people that came with her. I told her was no problem, and she felt bad about not staying. But you guys know how we are; I wasn't gonna say, "yeah, you suck for not staying." I was disappointed that she couldn't what with how my day was already going.

And then between service 3 of use guitar players, on drummer, and the sound technition were trying to figure out the probvlem. We still don't know what it was. We thought it was my guitar, but it worked using a regular amp not tied into the system. So we tried a different guitar and that didn't work. And then 1 minute(literally) before the start of the service it all started working again for no apparent reason.

And I know it was all resolved in the end and the service went well, but it has seriouly ruinned my day. Knowing I looked like a jackass in front of 300 people.

By the way.....how is your relationship going so far ?

at the risk of sounding cliche, I couldn't ask for a better gf. She makes me happier than any other person I have ever known. And as far as the relationship goes, it can be tough sometimes, not because our differences or anything like that, but because of the rules her father set for her she has to follow.

But I really think because of those rules our relationship has grown very strong.

Sorry for your crappy experience OCE.
I don't know what it is about playing in churches , but I still remember my first HS band
playing this church and, it had to be our most disastrous gig ever. I was singing lead, caught something slippery on the floor ..and fell on my ass. Then, our lead player went out to play his
'big solo' and..his amp just cut out..just died.
Our rhythm guitarist took over and it was err..tragic, and within a month of that gig I was taking guitar and learning to play for myself. Talk about a prime motivator!
